What Tekanology is, and how we test.

Tekanology is an independent review site for AI tools, automation, and productivity software. We write for creators and small teams who want a straight answer on which tool to use and what it really costs.

How reviews work

We are still building out the reviews, and the rule for every one is the same: a review is hands-on or it does not publish. We sign up ourselves, set the tool up from scratch, run one real job end to end on our own account, and keep the screenshots. We note where it was slow or broke, and what it costs once the free tier runs out. The verdict comes from that, not from a spec sheet. A tool we have not used that way gets no review and no score, and until then our guides and comparisons cover it from research.

Comparisons and guides

Comparisons, alternatives pages, and guides work differently. They are research pages, built from current pricing, documentation, and what real users report, and every claim on them is checked before the page goes live. They never claim hands-on use. Once we have tested a tool that appears on one of those pages, the page says so and carries our verdict.

The honest part

Every page says who a tool is wrong for, not only who it suits. If a cheaper option does the same job, we point to it. If a tool is not worth the money, we say so even when we earn a commission on it. A recommendation you cannot trust is worth nothing to you and nothing to us.

How the site makes money

Tekanology earns through affiliate commissions. When you buy a tool through one of our links, the vendor pays us a share at no extra cost to you. That never moves a score or changes a verdict, and we never take payment for placement or ranking. You can read the full affiliate disclosure for the detail.

What we cover

AI tools, automation, and productivity software: the stack creators and small teams actually run. The deepest coverage starts with creator tools for voice and video and widens from there. We go deep on a narrow set rather than thin across everything, because depth is the only kind of coverage worth your time.

The name

Tekanology is a fusion. Teka is the cultural half, grounded in Ngāi Tūhoe, in the country around Ruatāhuna in Te Urewera. It carries that country, the river as much as the mountain. Nology is technology. Together the name means culture and technology as one thing, not two.

The design says the same. The spiralling traces are koru. The woven diamond pattern is tukutuku. The interlocking teeth along each section edge are niho-taniwha, and the accent colour is pounamu, greenstone. Old forms, new work.
